White Mud

Here is what you need:

A bar of soap

A grater

A tub/pan

Loose toilet paper

Start by grating 1/2 a bar of soap.

Then tear the toilet paper up

Then add soap.

Then add water.

Let the kids squeeze, manipulate, and play with their mud as long as they like.

The more they play with it, the better it will be.

Toilet Paper fun for toddlers!

This week I am making the most of our frigid temps and doing fun random stuff inside!

Toilet Paper, Imagination, and giggles, check!

I saved the remnants for tomorrow's activity.

So fun, and easy clean up!

Math Ring Toss

We had some friends over for some fun.  First we painted paper plates...

I asked them to paint the bumpy outer rim, but they ended up painting the whole plate...oh well.

Once I blowdried them dry I cut the centers out.

While the popcorn was popping I made the stands.

I cut a wrapping paper tube into 3 unequal sizes so there would be a challenge. You could cut them all the same size, or use paper towel tubes...there is no right or wrong way here.

Then you cut them and tape them on a unpainted plate.

Then I grabbed the popcorn and headed out to the jungle. I mean the front yard. 

I chose to do math problems. If it landed on 5-2 they got 3 pieces of popcorn.

If they landed on 2+2 they got 4 pieces of popcorn.

If you are going to do this with younger kids just write the number or draw the number with shapes like 4 squares to determine how many pieces of popcorn they get.

The kids had a blast and then went crazy and took over the popcorn bowl.

Something fun for the summer that still requires some brains to do! Hahaha.

Try it! Its cheap and fun but most importantly educational!

Shamrock Prints

GREEN WEEK! Before I start what we did I wanted to say how much I LOVED the 59 emails about the Old MacDonald Set!  If you try anything or want me to do a specific theme, or need help let me know I would love to help in anyway possible!

Okay -

So hunt down some Toilet Paper Tubes...in our house we have a box of these just dying to be used.  You need to cut them in half so you have 2 tubes...then bend them in hald...invert the one side to make a heart.

Then get some cute kids to stamp different shades of green.

I would like to add that the cute girl to the right...the one I gave birth to - decided to potty train herself in 3 days!  She is 2.4 years old and fully - I mean fully - through the night trained as of today!  WAHOO!

Okay on to the project because no one likes a bragger.

Let it dry a tad and add some white  prints to it.  Add some background and a title and there it is...

It looks great on my art wall huh?

We talked about how cool shamrocks are and my husband showed the kids the 4 leaf clover he found on a camping trip he went on 1 week before meeting me.  He also likes to add that if he didn't find that clover he wouldn't have been "lucky" enough to get me.

I like to add that when he met me...I didn't like him...so the 4 leaf clover luck thing is crap.

He then finishes with...well he kept that 4 leaf clover and because his wish was to marry a beautiful girl...it worked.

I then roll my eyes a little and laugh, because the cheesefest needs to end somewhere.

Magic Scarves

I feel like I am lucky to be in the position where I have a kid at every age. A 5 month old, a 20 month old and a 3 year old. Because of this I am going to try hard to make activities for the babies too!

Here is the first one. What you need: A scarf, and an empty cardboard paper towel tube.
Stick the scarf into the tube and pull it out and in again. This is a versatile toy that uses stuff you already have on hand! Show your baby how to stuff it in and pull it out. I usually say "Where did it go?" or "Peek-A-Boo" "There it is" and my baby LOVES it. My older two love to entertain her with it as well.
This toy develops Object Permanence, Tactile Stimulation, and Eye-Hand Coordination. Try it with your baby, I bet they will squeal with delight like mine did! :)

Cardboard Tubes

Toilet Paper, Paper Towel, Wrapping Paper...you name it...we will use it!

Horns/Kazoos

Today we made horns. Some call these kazoos but I have another way to make kazoos, ah another week.

This is what you need...
Wax paper, Construction paper, glue, tape, something sharp (wooden skewer) rubber bands, scissors, and of couple toilet paper tubes.

Let's construct...
First you cute the construction paper the width of the tubes. Then you glue the paper to the tube. For extra hold tape the seam of the construction paper to the tube.

This is my son making sure we did a good job. :) Crazy boy!

Then you poke holes into the tubes, so you can change the sound later. Like a horn.

After that cut the wax paper into a square, and put on the top of the tube. wrap a rubber band around the top and you have a horn! Blow into it for a tooting good time.Here is the finished product. This project was very easy and practically no mess. My son enjoyed the cutting the most. I recommend this to anyone with a toddler running around their house. Happy Monday!
