Cream Cheese Play Dough/Snack

This is a great recipe if you have kids who need something to do AND eat! :)

Here is what you need:

8oz cream cheese

3/4 cup non fat powdered milk.

1.5 TBSP of honey

Food Coloring

 

Sounds totally bizarre right?

Well, you mix and mix and mix until you get "frosting" consistency.

Then you slap some on waxed paper and let them go to town. I gave them forks and knives so they could scribble with it, chop it, smear it, and just "play" with it.

This was great for the 1 year old.

She wanted to "play" too!

It works, because it is also edible!

When they were done I gave them some pretzels, excellent timing, as it was snack time. :)

This stuff does not keep, so it is for one time play only.

I bet you have all this stuff on hand.

I always have powdered milk - but that is because I use it for baking wheat bread.

Green Lunch

This has been so much fun this week, we had to end it with a bang!

MMMmmmm

Pesto Pasta, Kiwi, Pistachio Pudding, Avacados, Honeydew, and Cucumbers w/Lemon

Lets see how they did...

A - LOVED the Pasta

L - loved the Avacados

B - Loved EVERYTHING (suprise, suprise)

S - ate whatever I gave her. LOL

We decided that the sweet things were very good and had a hard time decided what the other foods should be as far as catergory.  A put the pasta in the yummy catergory. :)

Handprint Leprechauns

Sponge Paint the bottom of the hand in orange-red paint...I made it myself!

Thrilling...

After the hands are stamped, watercolor some rainbows.

Then piece a pot of gold, a hat and a head on to the Leprechaun...

Super cute!

Green Sensory Tub

Happy St. Patty's Day!

Here is what you need: 3 bags of Dried Split Peas (Walmart had these for 45 cents), 1 cup of wheat, and these cool things...

these are gold muffin cups...I found these in the Wilton section at Michaels for $1.39.

Cut them up into different shapes.

Here is the tub, mix it all together...

Add the gold pieces

mix them in and then explore...

This is my son's best friend R.

We inspected everything in the bucket.

Neat-O!

A Shamrock Snack

So for Green Week which just happens to fall on St. Patrick's Week we decided to make Shamrock Snacks.

Here is what you need:

Almond Bark, Green Sprinkles, Pretzel Twists and Pretzel Sticks and Wax Paper.

You also need some kids who just woke up from nap who are hungry.

So arrange the pretzels to look like a shamrock.  I let them figure it out for a few minutes so they could follow the pattern I had made.

Heat 1 cube of the Almond Bark at a time, until it is melted, then dollop into the center of the pretzels.  Let them sprinkle on the green stuff but be careful because the almond bark is still hot!

Then let the kids go play and arrange the two sides to lay on top of the stick...to make it 3D and so they are sticking to the pretzel not the bark...

Mmmm, let's eat!  Yes my son is wearing shorts and a long sleeved shirt...it was 55 and hello its Colorado.  Oh and my typical 2nd born there in the middle, broke all of the pieces so she could eat "the bits" this is how she prefers to eat everything...broken.  Lastly we were eating while the kids were walking home from school so that explains L on the end looking in the distance. :P

We made 2 dozen of these, with 2 squares of bark.

Shamrock Prints

GREEN WEEK! Before I start what we did I wanted to say how much I LOVED the 59 emails about the Old MacDonald Set!  If you try anything or want me to do a specific theme, or need help let me know I would love to help in anyway possible!

Okay -

So hunt down some Toilet Paper Tubes...in our house we have a box of these just dying to be used.  You need to cut them in half so you have 2 tubes...then bend them in hald...invert the one side to make a heart.

Then get some cute kids to stamp different shades of green.

I would like to add that the cute girl to the right...the one I gave birth to - decided to potty train herself in 3 days!  She is 2.4 years old and fully - I mean fully - through the night trained as of today!  WAHOO!

Okay on to the project because no one likes a bragger.

Let it dry a tad and add some white  prints to it.  Add some background and a title and there it is...

It looks great on my art wall huh?

We talked about how cool shamrocks are and my husband showed the kids the 4 leaf clover he found on a camping trip he went on 1 week before meeting me.  He also likes to add that if he didn't find that clover he wouldn't have been "lucky" enough to get me.

I like to add that when he met me...I didn't like him...so the 4 leaf clover luck thing is crap.

He then finishes with...well he kept that 4 leaf clover and because his wish was to marry a beautiful girl...it worked.

I then roll my eyes a little and laugh, because the cheesefest needs to end somewhere.
