Busy gettin' our Valentine's on!

My son (and me) made these cute things!

The teacher made the pink hearts with numbers so the class only had to write their OWN names on the Valentines. We incorporated into the valentine.

We just did our own version using paper I had on hand, and some punches I had here too.

The army guys were found at the penny section at Michaels.

So - $0.01 for 18 Valentines. Not to Shabby!

Easy Toddler Christmas Idea #6

Get that aggression out and make these super easy, cute and fun Tissue Paper Pointsettias.

You need a green crayon, yellow paper, red tissue paper and glue.

Start by glueing the center yellow on and then add 5 glue lines for the petals.

Let the kids tear up the red into little or big pieces and glue on each line.

 Then color the white spaces where there is no petals with the green crayon.

 More tearing.

 Here they are finished.  The kids didn't want to color the green parts so I did it while they were drying.

 The cool part is that as the glue dries the petals start to shrivel up a bit and they look more and more real.

I didn't take a picture of the dried ones but trust me they look so great with the mix of Christmas cards we have taped to the back of the front door. :)

Making Ketchup

Or chech-up as my 18 month old calls it.  We were having Corn Dogs for lunch and my 4 year old asks how do you make ketchup?

I asked him how he thought it was made and he said just mash up some tomatoes?  So we tried it.

We pulled tomatoes from the garden and bagged them...

 and smashed them.

then we read the ingredients and made our own.

 The real stuff is in the pink bowl.

  My kids liked their version so much that is what they dipped their lunch in. :)

Nothing amazing, just something fun.

Wreaths and People

Today is the last day of SHAPES because we have such a huge giveaway tomorrow!

So we did something simple but cute with HEARTS.

Cut a bunch of hearts out on different color construction paper, then cut a hole in a paper plate.

Then glue hearts to paper plate.

Then add glitter, because everything needs glitter.

Tada!

Then we had heart snacks.

Then we made heart people.

Letter R - R is for Rainbow...texture rainbows!

This picture is having an issue Rotating but here is our 15 inch R.

Something fun that they can do all by them self!  I found 7 little plates and then put every color of the rainbow on each individual plate.

Then we folded the papers into fans and then laid them flat.

Then we read:

Now it was time to assemble.

Everyone started with a different color so it worked out because no one had to wait on anyone else!

 Here is everyone showing them off.

Red was a marker.

Orange was torn paper.

Yellow was tissue paper.

Green was a crayon.

Blue was a marker.

Purple was rectangles.

Fist Ladybugs

Today we embraced what little sun we had and read a few books outside on the porch.  The above 2 were our favorites and K actually had the left one in his backpack!  Lucky us! So here's what we did...

We sang this cute little tune that is to the same tune as 5 little pumpkins...

Five little ladybugs, climbing on some plants,
Eating the aphids, but not the ants!
The first one said: "Save some aphids for me!"
The second one said: "These are tasty as can be!"
The third one said: "Oh, they're almost gone!"
The fourth one said: "Then it's time to move on!
The fifth one said: "Come on, let's fly!"
So they opened their wings and flew through the sky.

Then we got to work!  Paint the side of the fist like so... 

Make five of each side then you wash the hand with a wipe and connect them with the other fist, making 5 heart shapes.

While those are drying, find ugly scraps of paper and cut them into grass, I was really lucky and found this hideous piece of scrapbook paper that looked like clouds and it totally worked for this craft.  That just goes to show you NEVER throw anything out.  (my husband just rolled his eyes reading that) :)

So here we are gluing grass on the aforementioned paper...

See what I mean hi-de-ous!

While the kiddos were doing that I freehanded and cut some bodies.

My son glued all of the bodies to the hearts.

He is nice like that.

Then we glued the spotless ladybugs to the grass.

I meant punched them to the grass.

Then it was time for the spots.  I used infant Q-Tips and let them make the spots. While they were drying and the kids were eating pineapples I did the antennae.

And voila! 

I know SUPER cute right? Go on, grab a kid and do one today!

(Preferably your own kid)

Red Lunch

We invited A over for a Red Lunch, I think she was just as excited to eat it as my son was to make it!
If you haven't guessed it already this week is Red week!

From the top, Strawberries, Pepperonis, Craisins (cherry), Spaghetti-O's, Red Applesauce, Kidney Beans.
This time we guess the things we would like the most before we tasted them. Then we made a chart to see if our guesses were right. I was right that no one would like the kidney beans!
It was a big hit! So here is the list Yellow check, and now Red check, see ya next time A for the rest of the colors!

Letter A - Apple Prints

You need:

Apples, Paint, Paper, Knife, Markers and a fork.

Slice the apple, I did in half then in quarters.

Then we identified the parts of the apple.
I did quarters so we would have more stamping to do.

We then did green, and had a taste.

Then we did it again on the letter A, adding the parts seeds and stems.
