Easy Canvas!

My kids love to draw(l). It is nice to not waste paper every once in a while. So, I bought these dry erase markers and gave each kid a paper towel and gave them my bathroom mirror.

These markers are for the mirror only.

To start, you need 3 adorable girls.

not a requirement. ;)

I let them get on the counter, and go to town on the mirror!

 They would have done this for hours.

This is a great place to keep them occupied while you are folding laundry,  or cleaning. :)

Pirate Ideas for Toddlers - 2

My kids basically slept in their silly stuff from yesterday.  So today we built a ship.

I used these:

They were 0.89 cents at Michaels in the foam section.

A broom stick, a laundry basket and streamers.

This would be fun for a pirate party for kids.

I let them decorate the pennants (flags) with markers.

Then we used the streamers to weave into the laundry basket.

They were very meticulous about the weaving and spend a lot of time making sure it looked just right.  It gave me some more ideas on boredom busters  because they loved this part of the activity.

Then we took to down stairs and played with it.  The kids made a plank with bathroom stools and then pushed each other around the house with it.  We attatched the flags to the broomstick and then taped it with packing tape to the basket.

Totally random fun and pirate themed. :)

Not a Box!

I love books. We live walking distance to a library and we try and go every monday.  During Christmas break we found this gem of a book...

It is now one of my favorite books for 12-24 months.  Here is why...

So as you can imagine my kids thought they needed a Not Box!

So we found one and got markers out... 

 and went to town decorating every side. This lasted about 1.5 hours of coloring and playing.

 I did end up buying the book because they played happily and uninterrupted long enough for me and my husband to put ALL of the Christmas stuff away.

I will keep it and save it again (the book) for a rainy day along with a bigger box!

We played until the box was destroyed!

Secondary Colors - Toddler Activity #1

It was my turn for Tot School this week.  Everyday I will post what we did for you to do with your 2.5-3 year old.  If you want my tot school schedule email me and I will send it to you! :)

Last week they worked on Primary Colors. I was pleased that they knew the 3 they worked on so it was time to learn the next 3.

I downloaded this Catch a Rainbow observation chart from KidZone.  I printed it on Graph Paper for full effect! :)

Then I filled a bowl of milk and added food coloring red, blue and yellow to the milk.  I used milk because it showed the colors better than water would have.

 Then we observed it.

 Then we filled in the first circle with what we saw.

The kids were so good and coloring everything just as they saw it. Cute!

 Then I stirred it with a wooden stick.

 They thought this was neat. Then we colored what we saw after the stirring.

During snack I asked each person what we did and what we saw.  I loved that 4 of the kids said that we made a mess in the bowl. Hahaha.

Name Recognition #1

We are working on name recognition with the 2.5 year olds.  I made their first letter from WordArt and let the kids stamp them with the Bingo Daubers.

Then while they were drying we sang the Good Morning Song and when their name was called they had to stand up and spin around and then sit again so we could get to the next person.  They loved this.  Then I cut them out and glued them on black paper and then it was time for the game.

We had to see who's letter matched the picture...does K match B? No?  Who's name starts with K?  Keegan right!  Lets keep going...Does N match B? You get the idea.  They loved this game too.

My goal for today was to make sure that all of the kids knew the first letter of their name.

Healthy Kids Activities - Teeth #2

Today before we get into what types of teeth there are (that is for tomorrow) we talked about how many teeth we have.  I explained how many there when we are little, and when they fall out how many permenant teeth there will be.  

I let the kids count my teeth, and it tickled but they thought it was so cool.

Then we played a game that involved counting and teeth! :) Well marshmallow teeth :)

Here is the game its called SET OF TEETH

Print your own game and play it with your kids. I would say its for 2 and up. You have to know how to count so if you have an incredibly advanced 1 year old, go ahead and try it!

You need a copy of the game for each player, a die, and marshmallows.

The number you roll is the number of marshies you put on the circle.

If you knew me you would know that my son is more like me and my daughter is like no one else...notice the marshmallow placement.

The first to 32 teeth wins!

Then count how many you can fit into your mouth at one time. 

This step is optional.

Shoe and Hand Turkeys

I know, I know everyone is doing it.

I traced the shoe, folded the paper in half so I could have a pair.  Glued the heels together to make a fat torso.

I traced the hands 2x and folded the paper so I had 4 hands total. Then I let them paint them with Dot Markers.

Then we assembled.

Pretty easy, pretty cute.

Letter R - R is for Rainbow...texture rainbows!

This picture is having an issue Rotating but here is our 15 inch R.

Something fun that they can do all by them self!  I found 7 little plates and then put every color of the rainbow on each individual plate.

Then we folded the papers into fans and then laid them flat.

Then we read:

Now it was time to assemble.

Everyone started with a different color so it worked out because no one had to wait on anyone else!

 Here is everyone showing them off.

Red was a marker.

Orange was torn paper.

Yellow was tissue paper.

Green was a crayon.

Blue was a marker.

Purple was rectangles.

Letter A - Apple Prints

You need:

Apples, Paint, Paper, Knife, Markers and a fork.

Slice the apple, I did in half then in quarters.

Then we identified the parts of the apple.
I did quarters so we would have more stamping to do.

We then did green, and had a taste.

Then we did it again on the letter A, adding the parts seeds and stems.
