Toddler Preschool Beach Ocean Theme Ideas -4

Sock Whales.  This idea is really my friend C's.  She told me about a week or so ago and I needed to add it to our week.

I used polyfill, 1 sheet of sparkle felt, buttons, a sharpie, yarn, socks from the dollar store ... 3 pairs for 1 dollar, hot glue too.
Have the kids stuff the socks.
Like really really stuff them.  It takes about 7 minutes of laughing and stuffing.
It should look like this...

The the tail into a knot and then add eyes and cut felt into fin shapes and glue on the sides. Then add the smile with the sharpie.  After that have the kids tie knots, this was hard for them so they cut the yarn into desired lengths and I tied the knot.
Snip the top of the whale and then hot glue the yarn inside.  I added a felt layer to the top (not pictured) just to secure the blow hole water in place.
Here they are.  We read a few books about whales and then played "slide the whale across the wood floor"
It was like Whale Hockey...2 activities in one! Haha

Pirate Ideas for Toddlers - 1

My kids are IN LOVE with Disney Junior's Jake and the Neverland Pirates.

So a perfect opportunity to talk and learn about REAL Pirates!

Today is Dress Like a Pirate Day!
Here is what you need:  Paper Bag, Felt, Yarn, Scrap Fabric, Cardboard Box and Snow Boots (optional).
Cut the paper bag down the middle, then cut a neck hole and 2 arm holes...try it on the kid...
Decorate how you want. WE did dot markers since we haven't used them in a while.
my daughter insisted on having the word side in the front.
with the scrap fabric and felt and yarn make head wrap and eye patch.
cut the flaps off a box and use that for swords.
try it all on and go on an adventure!
 yikes!
 this is serious stuff folks!
Then run around the house for the next hour shouting pirate terms and giggle a lot.
Lather, Rinse, Repeat.

:)
I will be focusing on Pirates this week and Next...stay tuned!

File Folder Games

I have several books and you can find more of these on the internet. File Folder Fun is the site. You print them out and color them, laminate and use magnets, velcro, or anything you have on hand to make them stick felt works too. I have several of them already made and several more I have just waiting for me when I have the time. I love to color so this is really for me, but they are the prefect quiet time activity for your toddler. I take them to church, I take them to the Doctors office while we wait in the lounge, I take them on road trips, you name it they are the best. I have even made some to add to a birthday present for my nephew, I think he still plays with them. I love them and wanted to share them with you.
